Naval History

With our planet being roughly 2/3 water, it's not really surprising that much of our history is connected to maritime achievements and events. Over time I hope to provide at the least a broad overview of some of the more prominent elements of maritime history.

News

5/11 - added some new ships, images of rigging and sails, ready to try to get this site listed on the ODP

12/01 - Added the books page, not too many books yet, but I'll keep adding as I go
[Shameless advertising] The holidays are almost upon us; if you are inclined, now is the time to start laying in the gifts for those navally inclined individuals on your list. 12/17 is the date to remember to have items arrive before the 25th (without paying for next day delivery). P-)

09/11 - Did some scripting work and added a few more ships and a sources page (my wife just bought me a cool book)

06/03 - And, a new site is born. For now I'm going to be concentrating on the ships section. You can see some of the topics I plan to get to on the left. I appreciate your constructive comments so please feel free to give them.

Affiliate disclaimer:
This site like many others offers links that allow you to purchase merchandise through various commercial sites like Amazon.com and Allposters.com. I know, we all hate the ads that show up on the web; things like pop-ups and banners can eat bandwidth and time as they download and are just plain intrusive. I won't whine to you about how I provide a service with this site at a cost in time and money; in reality I wouldn't do this if I didn't get some enjoyment out of it. Affiliate links try to minimize the commercial aspects, they provide links to items that site visitors might be interested in buying, without the intrusiveness. I suggest that you pick a site (this one or another) that provides a link to places like Amazon and use the general link on the home page to get to Amazon (or where ever), the prices are the same and you provide the site builder with some support and extra incentive to keep the site up-to-date, and maybe even the means to upgrade the site with new features, like a dedicated domain name, upgraded hosting or *gasp* maybe even a dedicated server of there own (my wife would just love that, [vbeg]).
